Obama to tax our way out of debt.

As we prepare tomorrow for President Obama's anticipated budget speech (even now, no doubt, a team of no less than a dozen must be curling each subtle nuance of every sentence to perfection) already the media and blogs are alight with cries to tax the rich, tax the rich.  As if running to the left will solve our staggering deficit.  As if taxes at all are at the base of our problems.

It seems we are being asked not only to ignore our crazy spending, but to pretend that the problem is so simple that a little bump in taxes will make it all go away so we can have more handouts from some new government agencies, comissions, and committees.

What will it take for us to get on the right track?  If Obama thinks he can walk away tomorrow night, after garnering support from the Left (i.e. wealthy tax increases), after ignoring our debt crisis, after ignoring our credit crisis, than he will be losing more that the support of the independents.  He will be losing re-election for sure.

  1. Hello Butler,
What you neglect to mention in your post is that we are Taxed Enough Already. There will be only the appearance of tax increases on the rich. We will all be paying those increases in one way or another.
The problem Mr. Obama has, (although I'm fairly certain at this point that Mr. Obama does not regard it as a problem , but rather another step towards his goal of "fundamentally transforming America into a socialist nation-oops I mean "fundamentally transform....Well, you know the rest) is that there is no more money in my pocket to pay more in taxes without giving up essentials...like food, water and heat in the winter.

  2. "Soaking the rich" has been proven to be harmful over and again.

    That won't stop him.

Some say he's incompetent. I disagree. I believe he is an utterly competent, "true believer" Marxist, and his apparent malice towards this country is likely, in his opinion, nothing less than sterling altruism.

That is the most dangerous kind.

I disagree with one point you make. I believe he will win in 2012.

I think we'll put him right back in, after the Dead Elephants botch the election.

    Welcome to the blogosphere...

    Resist.

  3. The really goofy thing is government does not make anything, it just eats up money. The private sector makes and sells stuff, and taxes are generated if they do well, and money moves. The government is a black hole. You can't keep upping taxes without private spending and growth. It's nuts.
